My friend Tom wrote today that Not Content-Context is King, and I sort of agree with him.
I used to be one of those Web 2.0 junkies with a journalism background who thought content was king. I’ve since fell off that train, and rightly so.
Rather, I argue now that trust is king.
Here’s my reasoning, and don’t think of trust in terms of how a journalist looks at it. Rather trust is created with the user, sort of a bonding experience, if you will.
Here’s my example:
- Provide relevant, timely and engaging content
- Put context around it, including other viewpoints
- Offer engagement, education and enlighten
When you do those things you create an experience for the user that is so rich that than creates trust. And that trust goes beyond even brand loyalty.
