I am certainly not the first to use the phrase we media or wedia, but I do think it is important in understanding the future of journalism, the web, the media industry and ultimately, how people live, work, shop, play, engage, collaborate and network.
To me, we media is the convergence of the audience’s evolving wants, desires and need to engage intersecting with media, technology, information and the i-want-it-now-daddy mentality.
The world is moving in the direction where audience is determining the information agenda and participation is changing the habits of how, when, where and why information is obtained, sent, mashed and consumed.
Conversely, traditional information providers are at a crossroads. The culture shift that is occurring cannot be taught or necessarily learned. It’s how people live.
